Brent King

Honorary Professor

I am the Chief Medical Officer and Physician-in-Chief at Nemours/Alfred I. duPont hospital for Children.

Prior to assuming my current position, I served as the Clive, Nancy, and Pierce Runnells Professor and Chairman of the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston and was Chief of Emergency Services at Memorial Hermann Hospital, one of the busiest trauma centres in the United States. I have also served as the President of the Association of Academic Chairs of Emergency Medicine and was on the board of directors of the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine.

My specialty is paediatric trauma, and I have served as an associate editor for the Textbook of Paediatric Emergency Procedures.

My current research is focused on emergency department operations and ways in which various types of visual displays can improve the quality and timeliness of care and positively influence clinical decision making. In the past I have published studies involving paediatric transport teams and paediatric airway management.
