Dr Teri Reynolds

I lead the Emergency, Trauma and Acute Care programme at the World Health Organization in Geneva, and serve as the Secretariat coordinator for the WHO Global Alliance for Care of the Injured.

In addition to my WHO responsibilities, I am also Associate Professor at the University of California, San Francisco, and until recently, I served as the Director of Global Health for the Department of Emergency Medicine.I have also directed the Emergency Medicine Residency and research programs at Muhimbili National Hospital in Tanzania, and I serve as the Chair of the African Federation for Emergency Medicine (AFEM) Scientific Committee.

I edit the AFEM Emergency Care curriculum, currently being used for residency and mid-level training programmes in several countries, and direct the AFEM regional trauma data project. I have also served as an Associate Editor for BMJ Emergency Medicine Journal, and Department Editor for Annals of Emergency Medicine. I completed my MD, MS in Global Health Sciences, and received a fellowship in Emergency Ultrasound at UCSF. My residency was at Highland Hospital in Oakland, California.  And in my spare time, I completed a PhD in literature at Columbia University in New York.
