Patrick MacGoey

Honorary Lecturer

I am a Registrar in General Surgery and Intensive Care Medicine at Queen’s Medical Centre, Nottingham.

Originally from the West of Ireland, Patrick graduated from the University of Glasgow Medical School in 2004 and undertook early training in Emergency Medicine, Critical Care and General Medicine in the West of Scotland.  He subsequently travelled to South Africa to work in the Trauma unit at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital (2007-2008) and thereafter worked for Médecins Sans Frontières in and around conflict zones in Northwest Pakistan (2008-2009).  Patrick returned to the UK to train as a surgeon / intensivist (joint-CCT programme) and is in his final years of training.  His main clinical interest is the management of critically ill and injured patients.

Patrick undertook the MSc. Trauma Sciences (Military & Austere) 2011-2013 and was awarded ‘the Principal’s Prize’ at QMUL.  He joined the faculty in 2014.  He is married with 2 young children.
