Kalpesh R. Vaghela

Honorary Clinical Lecturer

I am a Trauma & Orthopaedic Registrar on the Percivall Pott Rotation, North East Thames.

Alongside this I have developed an interest in medical education and have completed a Diploma in Medical Education at University College London. This enabled me to take up my current role as a UCLP orthopaedics simulation fellow based at the Education Academy’s Haptic Facility, Royal London Hospital. In addition to delivering high quality simulation for Trauma & Orthopaedic trainees across the four North East Thames rotations I have delivered the Fundamentals of Arthroscopic Surgery Training (FAST) programme and developed a bespoke non-technical skills/human factors course for orthopaedic surgeons. I am actively involved in undergraduate teaching and am currently an honorary clinical lecturer at QMUL. My main research interest in the development of assessment and rating tools in orthopaedic surgery using virtual reality simulation and novel metrics with the aim of creating a competency based curriculum.
