Dr Parjam Seyed Zolfaghari

I am a Consultant in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine at the Royal London Hospital.

As an intensive care and anaesthesia specialist, I have a particular interest in the care of trauma patients. I greatly enjoyr bringing to the Trauma MSc my experience and knowledge in the field of anaesthesia and trauma intensive care

I was awarded a PhD from University College London  in 2012, where I was studying metabolic and mitochondrial dysfunction in critical illness. 

I am currently co-investigator of two major studies: 

  • Recombinant human Alkaline Phosphatase Phase II study (STOP-AKI)- AM-Pharma.
  • Randomised Evaluation of Surgery with Craniectomy for patients Undergoing Evacuation of Acute Subdural Haematoma (RESCUE-ASDH) - NIHR

Current projects being developed:

  1. Perioperative risk stratification using large national data sets
  2. Muscle loss and dysfunction in major trauma
  3. Coagulopathy and inflammation in traumatic brain injury
  4. Ventilator associated pneumonia in trauma population: A systematic review of prevalence and risk factors and a point prevalence study at level-1 trauma centres across the UK
