Pan - London Trauma Nursing Group
The Pan London Trauma Nursing Group (PLTNG) was convened as part of the governance structure of the London Trauma System (LTS) in 2012. Membership is comprised of nurses from the four major trauma networks within the LTS. The group seeks to ensure representation of trauma nursing from emergency care, critical care, theatres, wards and rehabilitation settings. In 2014 we formally made links with NHS England – London region who have enabled us to ensure the group continues to meet and develop key pieces of work which are now informing the development and peer review of trauma services.
The purpose of the group is to share best practice and devise protocols for trauma nursing within the LTS. The overall aim of the group is to help shape the future of trauma nursing expertise and practice. Our key objectives are:
- To engage all those involved in the provision of nursing services to injured adults and children to produce improvements in care.
- To share common issues and best practice.
- To set out common principles and standards for trauma nursing.
- To influence local, regional and national debate, guidance, best practice and commissioning on issues related to trauma nursing.
- To work with national bodies in helping to shape the future of trauma services.
The group is chaired by Graeme Wright, with Nikki Davies and Anna Sweeny as vice chairs. The group meets on a quarterly basis and reports directly into the Pan London Trauma ODN Steering Group chaired by Professor Karim Brohi.
