Hew Torrance

Clinical Research Fellow

I joined the C4TS team in 2013 after completing an academic foundation programme at Bart’s health. As one of the trauma research fellows I am involved in the day-to-day recruiting for ACIT as well as the on-going interventional studies. I am also attached to the adult critical care research team as my PhD is focused on those severely injured trauma patients admitted there.

Research interests

I am exploring the immediate immune response to trauma and how this affects the outcomes of those trauma patients admitted to the critical care unit. This is a very high-risk group and we are aiming to identify early those who are likely to have a turbulent stay and start to plan ways to combat this.
